About Us

Who is the owner of RDD?  About Michelle and her team…

Michelle Mitchell was raised in the City of Windsor, Ontario.  Growing up her mother put her into dance because Michelle loved to dance with her mother in the kitchen as dinner was cooking.  Since the age of 4 not a year has gone by without dancing.  Michelle has been training in dance for 34 years and has been teaching for 20.Growing up as a Competitive Dancer allowed for Michelle to travel throughout the United States and Canada dancing and training from various choreographers and teachers from Vancouver to New York to Los Angeles.  She began her training in Ballet, Tap and Jazz followed by Hip Hop and Funk.

An Honors 4 yr University Graduate of the University of Windsor’s Professional Acting Degree Program, Michelle had set her sights on Toronto where she spent 5 years acting, singing and dancing in various stage shows and television commercials.  It was in Toronto Michelle started working and training in American Ballroom and Latin Dance and Contemporary styles.  “There isn’t a favorite style for me, they all build and enhance one another and are linked”.  Michelle loved working as an actor and dancer but “dance kept pulling her into coaching, choreography and teaching all the time.”  Once married she moved to East Toronto-Oshawa where 4 months after her son’s birth- she opened a one room dance studio on Simcoe St with her as sole instructor and a dream to “create dancers” of whomever walked in the door.

The word soon spread that Michelle was bringing new and unique dance classes and styles to her studio and 9 years later “we are still doing just that”! “I realized this was my purpose to teach, mentor and give others my knowledge of Dance, and I’ll never stop learning”.  Michelle has full training to Intermediate + Advanced American and Canadian Cecchetti Ballet Syllabus and is currently working with Master Teacher Paula Morgan  from Los Angeles who has developed a fantastic Syllabus of Technical work for Dancers. Michelle is one of only 6 Canadian Dance Teachers Certified (Lev. I) in Paula Morgan’s work that is currently spreading through the U.S, Italy and Australia.  She is also a fully trained Al Gilbert Tap Teacher.  Michelle is also an American Smooth and Rhythm dance instructor for Ballroom/Latin.

Without any family or friends here in Oshawa and Durham, Michelle Mitchell and her family have built a dance school on values, respect and individuality.  “I respect any business owner who can do it on their own and be courageous”.  We have donated our time, money and dancers to countless fundraisers and non-profit agencies to make sure we show support and give back to the community.  It’s a continuous “circle of giving”.

Michelle’s staff is comprised of professionals in their own right from directors of Dance Companies, to working dancers and teachers in many various styles of dance all of whom are extremely passionate about teaching and dancing. P.A.C.E., C.D.T.A. and A.D.A.P.T. and D.M.A are all affiliated with our teachers.

“We are proud of our atmosphere and our Team.  We are proud to have the highest number of boys enrolled into a dance school in all of Durham.  I promised my son, one day, he would be joined by other great boys and men to learn self confidence and respect through dance.  It is what we are doing.” “We are continuing our legacy through events, television (Rogers TV) and word of mouth”.  Rhythm Dynamix is a place to “better yourself” through the tool of dance in many ways “personal” to the individual.  Won’t you join us in a “journey through dance?”

Dancingly Yours,

Michelle
